Inquisitor Rex and Retinue

This is a resin kit made by Games Workshop's specialty model company, Forge World. Any model made with resin should not be approached by a novice without the proper information on how to clean and prepare it. Another major drawback of most Forge World kits is a singular lack of instructions, and this model is no exception.

While the three retinue models are single piece and don't require anything more than the removal of flash to be complete, the main figure is multi-part and has pieces that are easily assembled and pieces that are a little more difficult. The sword and shield arms (1), as well as the lower leg (2) are fairly straightforward. However, the large Inquisition symbol (3) that goes on top of the model's back requires extensive filing and sanding of the flash to get it to fit properly. The builder must be careful however, as the attached wires are thin pieces and can easily break.

The handle (4) piece goes into
a smoothed, holster area on the side (I admit this took me a couple of minutes to figure out while going by the small picture on the package) and the hose piece goes from the arm to the shield, though its length may need to be trimmed to fit. Another problem which resin models may have, especially ones using thin pieces, is bending, though this is nothing a little hot water can't solve. The few problems this kit may create are solved with a bit of trial and error, and some experience, and the finished kit is beautifully detailed. I would recommend this model to the collector, but as it is neither part of Games Workshop's normal range, nor a necessary model for any army, I would encourage novice's and those on a budget to steer clear.
